Program description

M. in Sustainable Use of Natural Resources and Ecosystem Services

This Master is oriented to train professionals with an environmental profile framed in the paradigms, methodologies and cutting-edge techniques of environmental research and management.

It will provide students with up-to-date knowledge on the sustainable use and valuation of ecosystem services, as well as the tools and methodology for the environmental management of resources, all under a multidisciplinary approach.

The multidisciplinary approach of the master will allow students to have knowledge about the causes, components and consequences of Global Change, as well as tools and methodologies for their study and management in order to be able to compete in the labour market as valuable professionals for companies and institutions dedicated to environmental management in a context of environmental sustainability.

Course taught in Spanish and some components taught in English

The applicant's profile will preferably be that of a student with the basic scientific knowledge necessary to understand, interpret, analyze and explain the knowledge of their field of study.

In addition, it will be valued to demonstrate autonomous learning skills and skills to define objectives, develop plans and select performance techniques, as well as attitudes and values that promote an ethical commitment to proceed appropriately in a situation raised in professional practice.

On the other hand, the applicant should have acquired, at least in a basic way, a series of transversal competences that contribute to developing the following capacities: synthesis, problem solving, decision making, teamwork, self-criticism and updating.

From an academic point of view, and given the multidisciplinary nature with which the master's degree is proposed, the ideal access profile of the student will be that of an applicant with training in areas of knowledge of Earth and Environmental Sciences. Thus, this degree is preferably aimed at graduates / graduates in Environmental Sciences, Biology, Marine Sciences, Geography, Geology and Forest Engineers, Agronomists, Mines or Civilians, who wish to specialize in the application of their knowledge and skills to scope of understanding, evaluation and monitoring of processes related to the valuation of natural resources and ecosystem services, as well as the application of methods and techniques for adaptive management of the effects of Global Change.
