Program description

M. in Advanced Chemistry Laboratory

The general objective of this Master is to achieve advanced and comprehensive training in the knowledge and application of experimental techniques. This is essential for the analysis and characterization of chemical substances and processes not covered by other master's degrees in the national level.

The program aims to offer a training plan in the field of Chemistry, of a theoretical and experimental nature, with a strong impact on the knowledge of advanced instrumental techniques, based on the training achieved by graduates in Chemistry and alike with it, keeping in mind a double intention:

The qualification of professionals for their insertion in the labour world, The preparation of the graduates for the realization of a doctoral thesis or other R + D + i tasks.

Course taught in Spanish and some components taught in English

Admission requirements

Anyone who meets the admission requirements and general pre-requisites for access to the degree program may apply.

For Master programs, the basic requirement is to have an Undergraduate diploma.

Please use the "Request information" form to learn more about the admission requirements and the application procedure for this program.

Our Access and Admissions Office will be happy to help and guide you through the whole process!

This Master's Degree is preferably aimed at graduates / graduates in: Bachelor's or Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Bachelor's or Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry, Bachelor's or Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy, Bachelor's or Bachelor's Degree in Physics, Bachelor's or Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Bachelor's or Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Bachelor's or Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Sciences, Bachelor's or Bachelor's Degree in Marine Sciences, Bachelor's or Bachelor's Degree in Food Science and Technology, Bachelor's Degree or Bachelor's in Enology, Industrial Engineer, Materials Engineer, Chemical Engineer, Agricultural Engineer who wish to specialize in the application of their knowledge and skills in the field of agricultural production, the agri-food industry, as well as the chemical industry.

Since the Master aims to train professionals in advanced techniques, the bibliography and manuals are mainly available in English, as is the case with most of the degrees to which the Master is aimed. Therefore applicants with the ability to read and understand scientific and professional texts, as well as audiovisual material in English are recommended. Although all the scientific instrumentation that will be used in the Master uses specific programs for their operation, the logical work structure of these programs is similar to that found in the office packages, adapted to the specific task that each team performs. For this reason, it is important that those interested in taking the Master have computer skills, fundamentally with a good level of office automation

Continuing studies

The Master's Degree in Advanced Chemistry Laboratory provides the student with the possibility of specialized higher education that will enable them to continue doctoral studies and / or join the job market in better conditions.

Consequently, the proposal of this Master seems to be appropriate as a link between the degree in Chemistry and the like and the Doctorate program in Advanced Chemistry at the University of Almería.

Career opportunities

The chemical industry sector, within which the agri-food industry is located, is one of the most important in the Spanish economy. It includes other subsectors also of high interest to Andalusia such as plastics and other materials (where it is worth noting the derivatives of stone and ceramic materials of importance in Macael), fertilizers, pesticides, beverages, etc.

The demands of companies in south-eastern Spain, as occurs in other geographical areas, require the use of advanced techniques and procedures in chemistry

Within this area, there are a high number of advanced chemical laboratories in the use of scientific instrumentation, aimed at providing services in the agri-food and industrial sectors. This area represents a habitual niche in which graduates and graduate doctors of the University of Almería are integrated.
