Our Medical Research Skills postgraduate programme aims to provide research training relevant to clinical practice. It will develop your knowledge of clinical research methodology and its application in the real world. This postgraduate certificate is designed for any doctor wishing to develop their skills towards a career in academic medicine. This programme is the first of its kind in the UK to provide generic research skills training within a clinical context.
Themes throughout the programme include hospital research, handling clinical data sets and translational research linking clinical and laboratory environments. Coupled with the skills and experience that you will gain throughout your studies, your ability to undertake clinical research will be improved. The PgCert is ideal for medics, who would like to improve their career prospects, fill skills gaps and further their hands-on research experience. The programme is part-time, enabling you to accommodate requirements of the PgCert MRS alongside your clinical responsibilities. The PgCert can be completed over a maximum of 24 months although the option is available to complete within 12 months.
