Program description

Behavioural Studies at Aberdeen is a fascinating exploration of what ‘makes us tick’ as humans, learning from international experts in; developmental, social and industrial psychology; neuroscience; memory; language; and cognition. You will enjoy a supportive and stimulating teaching environment that gives you a hands-on approach to gaining the skills and grounding to succeed in any career involving ‘people’.

Behavioural Studies can be done as an MA or a BSc degree. For the MA course you will typically have done arts and humanities subjects at school. You will benefit from our long tradition and special strength in psychology research, for which the most recent UK assessment placed Aberdeen as third top in the UK. Psychology deals with the understanding and explanation of behaviour and experience, and how these change and develop throughout our lives.

The skills you gain will open up a wealth of potential career opportunities in psychology-related fields, including human resources, social work, counselling and teaching. Other areas benefiting from an understanding of the human mind and behaviour include careers in business, marketing and advertising. You will enjoy a special, warm welcome at the University of Aberdeen, benefit from excellent teaching, research with international impact, and a truly global experience as part of our friendly and vibrant international community.

You will love our beautiful campuses at Old Aberdeen and Foresterhill, great facilities for learning, sports and leisure, and the many opportunities to develop the skills and attributes to give you a competitive advantage in the career path you choose, plus the broader horizons you can gain from the chance to study abroad.
