Hair and Media Make-up Level 2
Want to start your journey towards an exciting career in professional hair and make-up? Interested in using your skills for TV, theatre or photography? Our Hair and Media Make-up college course will get you working hands-on to give you an excellent foundation in these areas for further study and for future jobs in the media make-up industry.
Working in this field not only requires creative flair and technical ability, but you must also like working with people, have patience and value attention to detail. This make-up and hair course will guide you through practical training such as applying make-up, body art design, skin tanning and hair styling, as well as arming you with essential knowledge for effective client care and best health and safety practice.
Not available for international student visa applicants
- Ideally, you will require a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 3 (grade D) or above.
- School applicants will be required to provide a good school report, which must include attendance.
- If you do not have a grade 4 (grade C) or above in English and maths and you are under 19, you will be required to complete an assessment so we can ensure you receive appropriate support. Applicants over 19 are not required to complete maths and English.
- You should be committed, enthusiastic and have a desire to succeed in the media make-up industry.

Teaching and assessment
Assessment takes place in a realistic working environment, which could include shows and competitions as well as work on clients and fellow students. You need to be prepared to work both independently and as part of a team. There are also written papers and assignments.

By completing this course, you will set yourself on the way to a wide variety of careers in the industry. On completion of the Level 2, you could progress onto our Theatrical Special Effects, Hair and Media Make-up Level 3 course, or you could pursue a range of employment opportunities within the industry.
