MSc in Modeling of Neuronal and Cognitive Systems

Mod4NeuCog is a 2-year master's program on the modeling of neuronal and cognitive systems, which is designed to train the interdisciplinary researchers of tomorrow. Through its innovative mentoring approach, Mod4NeuCog aims to encourage students to develop their natural curiosity and independence. The goal is to train active researchers at the crossroads of applied mathematics and cognitive sciences.

At the end of the program, students will have acquired sufficient basic knowledge in mathematics, statistics, computer science, biology and cognitive science to model neurocognitive systems. They will also have specialized in a particular field of interest through research projects hosted at UCA laboratories.

The fields of specialization include medicine, mathematics, linguistics, physics, experimental economics, psychology, computer science, neurophysiology or chemistry of olfaction.

Admission requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, psychology, linguistics or any field related to neuroscience and cognitive science.
  • Evidence of proficiency in English (Toefl tests, IELTS, etc.)
    • Native speakers and graduates from universities with instruction in English may be exempt.
  • Please also provide evidence of your capacity to follow mathematics courses at a rapid pace - we therefore recommend that applicants include syllabi of previously completed mathematics courses.

Program content

Mod4NeuCog is designed to progressively stimulate autonomy and initiative through highly interactive courses, projects and internships that require students to be more independent at each stage, in order to encourage them to develop their personal and professional skills.

Hence the following structure:

  • Bootcamp: A highly interactive and intensive refresher module during the first few weeks of study.
  • 1st semester: Core and elective courses, including modeling, biology and cognitive sciences.
  • 2nd semester: Mini-project, prospective research and innovation, computational modeling and simulation.
  • 3rd semester: Long internship in a local laboratory or partner institution, elective courses, scientific communication.
  • 4th semester: Long internship abroad (international), Python online module.

Tuition fees

The tuition fee is 4000€ per academic year plus a small additional fee for registration in the French system.

Some students can benefit from a tuition waver and/or receive a student contract (work contract at the University), depending on the availability of funds. Please note, however, that the fees for EU-citizen can vary as they are calculated based on your income.

Qualification

After successful completion, students will be awarded the degree of MSc (Master of Science) from Université Côte d'Azur (UCA).
