Program description

English Language Teaching and Acquisition in Multilingual Contexts

The Master’s Degree in English Language Teaching and Acquisition in Multilingual Contexts is an official postgraduate programme coordinated by the Universitat Jaume I which includes renowned lecturers from other Spanish, European and American universities.

The programme attempts to meet the need to provide society with effective and high quality teaching of English and in English (CLIL), so that learning of the language from early childhood to secondary education is satisfactory and enables students to achieve the degree of bilingualism/trilingualism sought.

The Master was created on the basis of the inter-university doctorate programme 12511 in Applied Linguistics (UJI, UB, EHU), which obtained a quality award from the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science in 2005-2006, 2006-2007 and 2007-2008, and from the experience gained through the UJI-specific MELACOM Master's Degree course which has now been taught for 3 years.

Completing the Master automatically leads to the award of the Certificat de capacitació per a l’ensenyament de llengües estrangeres (anglès) (certificate of qualification for teaching in English), regulated by Order 17/2013, of 15 April, of the Valencian Department for Education, Culture and Sports.

The Master is assigned to the Faculty of humanities and social sciences (FCHS) of the Jaume I University.
