Rising above the rest- BS in Architecture
A Bachelor of Science in Architecture at Università della Svizzera italiana will establish the theoretical and practical foundations during their first year of the programme. Introductory lessons in the various subject areas in Architecture of the academy’s syllabus will be presented and students will gain practical drafting skills in the architectural design studios.
Bachelor of Science in Architecture students will develop their theoretical knowledge and practical skills by attending lectures on historical-humanistic and technical-scientific subjects, learning about structures as well as the design studios (ateliers). The courses covers the following subject areas:
- Theory of Art and Architecture
- Culture of the Territory
- Construction and Technology
- Structures, Ecology
- Computer Science
Architectural design has a constant central importance through the duration of the Bachelor of Science in Architecture, and is closely related to the teaching of the historical-humanistic and technical-scientific subjects.
Admission requirements for Bachelor programmes at Università della Svizzera italiana are for the following sections:
Swiss school-leaving certificates received in Switzerland and abroad
- Federal or cantonal matriculation recognized by the Swiss Federal Matriculation Committee.
- Maturità commercial cantonale;
- Final diploma of a professional university institute or diploma of a higher technical school recognised by the competent federal authorities
- School-leaving certificates given by Swiss schools abroad are accepted
Foreign school-leaving certificates
Applicants with a foreign secondary school (pre-university) diploma (and/or a foreign university diploma considered equivalent to it) are admitted. As a rule, reference is made to the guidelines of the University Admissions Commission of the Swiss University Rectors' Conference.Where equivalence is not clearly definable, candidates may given an interview or asked to take further examinations, and supplementary pre-university courses may be prescribed.
Admission "by portfolio"
Candidates over 25 years old lacking the above qualifications may be admitted if the Academy judges they have special training and experience revealing an aptitude for design work certified with the application for admission.

Tuition fees for the Bachelor's degrees at Università della Svizzera italiana cost CHF 4,000/semester.
Applicants who were residence in Switzerland with C permit (including Liechtenstein) upon completion of highschool (Maturità) tuition costs CHF 2,000/semester.
