Program description

Master in Neuroscience

The Master in Neuroscience organized by the Universidad Autonoma of Madrid (UAM) Department of Anatomy, Histology and Neuroscience in collaboration with the Spanish Scientific Research Council (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas - CSIC) offers high-level academic and research training oriented toward acquiring multidisciplinary deep, up-to-date understanding of the Nervous System, as well as the necessary skills to initiate a research career in Neuroscience, whether in the national or international spheres. The Master leads into the the UAM Doctoral Program in Neuroscience as part of our Postgraduate programs/offerings.

This Master in Neuroscience is clearly research-oriented and is primarily directed toward graduates in Health Sciences and Experimental Science who wish to initiate a career as Nervous System researchers. The Master is also open to other graduates interested in understanding the Nervous System even if they do not intend to channel their professional activity toward research.

The Master in Neuroscience is composed of 90 ECTS (3 semesters) with obligatory studies as well as a large variety of electives in different academic, research and methodological fields. The Final Master Project (20 ECTS), which can be investigative or experimental, will be performed in a national or international research laboratory, helping the student to become familiar with research activity, and, if they wish, establish contacts to continue their studies in a Doctoral project. l All of the Professors and Researchers of the Master are doctors renowned for their research and teaching. Through agreements with the different centers, professors from the Cajal Institute, the Institute of Biomedical Research and the CSIC National Center of Biotechnology, the University of Alcalá and the UNED (National Distance University) all participate.

Offering high quality, up to date study of the Nervous System, the UAM Master in Neuroscience will allow its graduates to undertake a research career in Neuroscience with nationally- and internationally-recognized competence.
