Interuniversity Master's Degree in Genetics and Cell Biology

Recent advances in the fields of Genetics and Cellular Biology are opening new prospects in the investigation, diagnosis and treatment of diseases. The objective of the Interuniversity Master's Degree in Genetics and Cell Biology is to provide cutting-edge theoretical and practical training in these fields, aimed at facilitating the transition between basic and applied research to students with a degree in Biology or related disciplines, who wish to initiate a career in research or related professional activities. The broad repertoire of courses, imparted by professors and research specialists, will introduce the students to the fundamentals and applications of the state-of-the-art knowledge in disciplines such as Oncology, Stem Cell Biology, or Genetic Improvement. Students will acquire skills in genetic analysis, cell culture, or image acquisition and analysis. Students will have the opportunity to do their Master Research Thesis in leading laboratories not only in Madrid, which holds the largest number of scientific institutions in Spain, but also in other cities in Spain or European countries, providing interesting contacts for their future career prospects.

Admission requirements

The specific requirements for admission to the Master in Genetics and Cell Biology are: · Be in possession of a bachelor degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Sanitary Biology, Medicine, Environmental Sciences or related official degrees (See specific information in official procedures).

  • A level of English equivalent to level B2 is necessary, which allows, at least, the correct understanding of written scientific articles.
  • A level of spanish equivalent to level B2 is necessary.
