UC Berkeley Summer Sessions
Founded in the wake of the gold rush by leaders of the newly established 31st state, the University of California's flagship campus at Berkeley has become one of the preeminent universities in the world. UC Berkeley gradually established a distinguished faculty (with 22 Nobel laureates to date), a stellar research library, and more than 350 academic programs. Combining outstanding teaching and research programs, UC Berkeley provides broad access for students of all means — educating more federal Pell Grant recipients from low-income families than all eight Ivy League universities combined.
Summer Sessions offers more than 600 courses each summer, in a wide variety of disciplines. Courses are offered over seven different sessions of varying lengths. More than 16,000 students attend UC Berkeley in the summer, and more than 5,000 of those students are visiting students. Several special programs are available to summer students, including programs for incoming freshmen and transfer students, summer study abroad and international and domestic internships, and pre-college programs for high school students.
