About this program

Master in Service Design

This Master’s Degree Program in Service Design was created in response to the constantly growing need for designs skills in businesses and working life. The program combines design thinking with business and society and is focused in particular on the area of service design.

During their studies, students will learn how to design, develop, and implement tasks while collaborating and sharing information with shareholders and customers. Because this program is full of students with a variety of different professional and cultural backgrounds, the learning environment is both interactive and dynamic.

The course includes advanced studies (55 ECTS), elective studies (5 ECTS) and Master's thesis (30 ECTS). The Master’s thesis is a demanding development or research project that combines theory, practice and the creation of new knowledge. The subject and intent of the thesis is based on the requirements and needs of working life. The duration of the degree program is approximately two years (90 ECTS) and the program can be completed while working.

Admission requirements

The entry requirement to the program is a suitable higher education degree and a minimum of two years’ relevant work experience gained after the higher education degree. Request information for the full program requirements.

Scholarships & funding

Scholarship Program at Turku University of Applied Sciences

The student can apply for a refund for the tuition fee based on the national certificate of language proficiency in the Finnish language, i.e. the YKI certificate. 

The amount of the scholarship based on the YKI certificate in the Finnish language is EUR 4 000 when the student has paid EUR 11 500 tuition fee for the previous academic year. The scholarship can be granted only once per academic year.


The tuition fee is 11500 EUR per academic year for non-EU/EEA students.

Tuition fee does not include accommodation or other living or study related costs.


Graduates of this program will receive a Master of Business Administration

Continuing studies

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree studies provide the student with skills and competences in leadership, service design, and business development. Completion of a master’s degree at a University of Applied Sciences qualifies for doctoral studies in different universities.
