Bachelor in Information and Communications Technology

This bachelor's program in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) prepares students a well-rounded foundation to become a future ICT professional. They will cover an array of technologies, methods and tools including software applications, data networks and cybersecurity, games, and hi-tech electronic systems and devices.

The curriculum includes basic, professional, and optional studies as well as practical experience and training and a final thesis project. Turku University of Applied Sciences places high value on problem-based learning, and get students started with hands-on projects from the beginning. This hands-on approach continues with real-life research and development projects that students complete together with local companies.

The main focus areas of this program are embedded software and Internet of Things (IoT), game development, data networks and cybersecurity, health informatics as well as software engineering and project management. Students will select one of these areas as their area of specialization. 

Admission requirements

Eligibility to Bachelor's Degree Programs

You can apply to a Bachelor’s program if you have completed the Finnish general upper secondary school syllabus and/or the matriculation examination; an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma; a European Baccalaureate (EB) Diploma; a German Reifeprüfung (RP) Diploma; a Finnish vocational upper secondary qualification with a scope of 120 credit units or 180 credit points, or a comparable previous Finnish vocational qualification with a minimum scope of 80 credit units; a Finnish post-secondary or higher vocational level diploma; a Finnish vocational upper secondary qualification or a further or specialist vocational qualification as a competence-based qualification; or a comparable previous qualification or a foreign qualification which provides eligibility for higher education in the awarding country.

Student selection

Scholarships & funding

Scholarship program in Turku University of Applied Sciences

The student can apply for a refund for the tuition fee based on the national certificate of language proficiency in the Finnish language, i.e. the YKI certificate. 

The amount of the scholarship based on the YKI certificate in the Finnish language is EUR 4 000 when the student has paid EUR 11 500 tuition fee for the previous academic year. The scholarship can be granted only once per academic year.

Tuition fees

The tuition fee is 11 500 EUR per academic year for non-EU/EEA students.

Tuition fee does not include accommodation or other living or study related costs.


Graduates of this program will receive a Bachelor of Engineering

Continuing studies

An ICT engineering graduate has wide and practically-oriented fundamental knowledge and skills. After graduation, you are able to follow and contribute to the development of your field. Your studies will strengthen your capabilities to promote life-long learning, your language and communication skills, and prepare you for working in international environment.

Typical entry-level positions of ICT engineering graduates include Game Developer, Hardware Engineer, Project Engineer, Software Designer, and System Administrator. Many students also start their own businesses already during their studies, or select the entrepreneur’s path later.

As a Bachelor of Engineering, you may apply to a wide selection of Master’s programmes. When you have two years of working experience after your graduation, you can apply for applied Master’s programs at Universities of Applied Sciences in Finland.
