Program description

BS in Sports and Recreation

According to Time magazine, youth sports in the United States is a more than $15 billion industry. The Bachelor of Science in sport and recreation degree at Trine University serves the growing number of students interested in a rewarding career in recreation.

Sports and recreation students are prepared to lead in all types of participatory sports programs. Graduates of the Bachelor of Science in sport and recreation program will be trained to manage people and resources in team and recreation sports, and will develop skills to work in settings throughout the sport continuum.

The degree also prepares students to work in programs for adults, including adult education, senior programs and programming for those with disabilities.

Admission requirements

  • Admission into the Allen School of Engineering and Computing and the Rinker Ross School of Health Sciences requires a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. In addition, students must have successfully completed the equivalent of Trine's English Composition I, Calculus I, and Chemistry I with a "C" or higher.
  • Admission into the Franks School of Education requires a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Admission into the Jannen School of Arts and Sciences and the Ketner School of Business require a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.25.
