Program description
Musical Theatre
Musical Theatre is one of the most popular elements of British theatre, with a growing number of West End shows attracting visitors worldwide. This course gives you the opportunity to explore how to perform in musical theatre and to develop skills used in the various performance strands of musical theatre - singing, movement (not dance) and acting. You will also be able to develop the ability to express yourself by enhancing the acting skills demanded in this theatrical form. Throughout the two weeks you'll work with a director, musical director and movement coach to learn what goes into being a great musical theatre performer. You'll work on individual and group numbers culminating in an informal sharing to friends and family on the last afternoon of the course. You will need to prepare and bring two contrasting songs to the course, which you may use in the final presentation (the team may suggest other songs to you as well). The course is suitable for any level - it's a fantastic introductory course but also a great opportunity for more experience performers to learn at Central.
