The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, founded in 1918 and opened officially in 1925, is Israel’s premier university as well as its leading research institution. The Hebrew University is ranked internationally among the 100 leading universities in the world and first among Israeli universities.

The Hebrew University encompasses six campuses. The main campuses are Mount Scopus and Edmond J. Safra (Givat Ram) in Jerusalem. Four faculties are housed in other smaller campuses: The Faculty of Medicine in Ein Kerem, which is also in Jerusalem, the Faculty of Agriculture in Rehovot, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Beit Dagan, and the Institute for Marine Sciences in Eilat.
