Why study at The Centre for Digital Media
The Master of Digital Media program was created by the industry for the industry. Our first industry partners recognized a growing need for savvy, creative innovators and entrepreneurs who could lead the booming new media sector. This founding partnership has grown into a broad network of businesses and organizations that work with the Centre and MDM students, including some of the world's leading companies such as Electronic Arts, Mozilla, Autodesk and Microsoft.
Our partners provide students with internships, employment opportunities. and they work with students on accelerated collaborative projects to develop ideas and prototypes. Industry partners can also sponsor workshops, offer guest lectures and even become instructors at the CDM. In return, we connect businesses and organizations with our unique, cross-disciplinary pool of MDM students, faculty and researchers—some of the best up-and-coming talent in British Columbia.
The Master of Digital Media program emphasizes experiential learning through project courses. Student projects are the heart of the MDM program. Each term, teams of three to six students work on focused projects to develop prototypes or applications from concept to deliverable. Projects can either be proposed by students as independent team collaborations, or sponsored by external clients. The learning objectives of these projects are to provide hands-on experience working with teammates who are from different backgrounds and disciplines, as well as valuable experience working with clients. All projects follow a 12 week development process modeled to industry standards.
