Degree in Nursing

Bachelor studies in nursing are preparing for self-fulfillment of tasks within the professional functions of a nurse. They include: health care services, health care management, health promotion and education, activities as a participant in the health care team, and the development of nursing practice and critical thinking.

The aim of first-cycle studies in nursing is to prepare students to work independently by equipping them with the necessary to this knowledge, skills and competences.

The students learn to be able to organize their own work, establish cooperation in health care teams and initiate and support the activities of the local community for health. The social competences developed during studies allow the student to use knowledge acquired more and more effectively and skills in work, empathic approach in contact with the patient and understanding the need for periodic, lifelong learning and learning all my life.

The graduate of nursing will have the skills to use broad knowledge in the field of medical sciences, health sciences and physical culture sciences as well as related disciplines. A bachelor's degree in nursing is obtained by a graduate of first-cycle studies who are prepared to practice as a nurse. Has detailed knowledge of nursing and general knowledge of other medical sciences. Shows knowledge of legal regulations, ethical standards and deontology relating to the practice of a nurse.

Nursing graduate is able to use current knowledge, to ensure safety and a high level of care, can provide services in the field of promotion, health and disease prevention, provide comprehensive and individualized care for a disabled and dying patient and exercise their own profession, in accordance with the principles of general ethics and professional and holistic approach to the patient, taking into account respect for and respect for his rights.

A graduate of first-cycle studies in nursing is awarded the professional title of a bachelor of nursing. During studies, he acquires knowledge, skills and social competences that allow him to employ medical entities (in hospitals, basic health care facilities, nursing and care facilities, care and treatment centers, palliative and hospice care centers), in nurseries or in homes social welfare.

Admission requirements

Rules of qualification: Eligibility rules for candidates (new baccalaureate): English - written part and one of the subjects to choose from: mathematics, biology, chemistry, physics, geography, computer science- written part. Qualification rules for candidates holding foreign-language baccalaureate. The requirement to translate the foreign baccalaureate grades into the UKSW recruitment result is to have grades for all subjects required in recruitment, i.e. English and a subject of choice (one of mathematics, biology, chemistry, physics, geography, computer science). Candidates for the nursing degree (first-cycle studies conducted in English), who do not have at least one of the documents proving their knowledge of the language English, included in the list constituting Annexe No. 2 to the Regulation of the President of the Council Ministers of December 16, 2009 on the manner of conducting proceedings qualification in the civil service (Dz.U.2009.218.1695), they can proceed with verification knowledge of English, aimed at issuing a certificate of language knowledge English at the appropriate level, or lack of English language skills the right level. Verification of English is carried out by a verification committee appointed by the head of the recruitment unit, composed of teachers academic.

A graduate of first-cycle studies in nursing is awarded the professional title of a bachelor of nursing.
