Over the course of four years, you become a qualified and world-wise teacher who can teach at a wide range of international secondary schools. Job prospects are great, as this field is still rapidly growing. And you will have plenty of experience before that, as you practice teaching during your studies at international schools in the Netherlands, Europe and beyond.
Currently, you can choose any of these main subjects: Mathematics, Social studies: History, German, or English.
Once you have completed the course, you are a confident teacher to all kinds of learners at international and bilingual schools. In practice, this means that you become part of an international and intercultural environment. Together with colleagues, you help your pupils develop into eager, social, and balanced individuals.
To be admitted to one of the bachelor programmes you have to meet certain admission requirements. NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences recognises the following general international qualifications:
- International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or European Baccalaureate Diploma.
- High School diploma or graduation statement (see below) from an accredited institution.
- Four GCSE/GCE ‘O’ level passes (final grade A, B or C) and two ‘AS’ level passes. These six passes combined must all be in different subjects.
- Associate, bachelor's or master's degree.
Furthermore, some of our bachelor programmes demand additional entry requirements.
If you are a Vietnamese student, you may use a graduation statement from your educational institution as a temporary solution in case you are set to receive your diploma after the application deadline. A valid diploma must always be provided before the start of the study programme.
All non-EEA applicants are required to submit an English proficiency test with their application. Exceptions are made for students, who have had their preparatory education in a country where English is the official working and educational language. The language requirements for EEA students are the same as for Dutch students. If your diploma is listed here, the additional English language test is not required.
NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences accepts four kinds of official language tests: IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English, and TOEIC.
