Doctor of Veterinary Medicine - Basic Sciences

The seven semesters of the Basic Sciences - Veterinary Curriculum can be summarized quite simply: first you learn the basics such as Anatomy, Physiology, and Pharmacology, and then you apply that knowledge in Clinical Skills and Surgery courses.

Admission requirements

Pre-requisites:

  • General Biology 1 Academic Years (AY), 6 Credit Hours (CH)      
  • Organic Chemistry 0.5  AY, 3 CH                 
  • Biochemistry 0.5 AY, 3 CH
  • General Chemistry  1 AY, 6 CH  1             
  • Language Arts (English) 0.5  AY, 3 CH   
  • College Math or Computer Science 0.5 AY, 3 CH  

*May substitute a semester of Biochemistry. **May substitute any course with a writing component.

MCAT:

Taking the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) is required for all applicants who are U.S. citizens, nationals, or permanent residents.

English Proficiency:

Since English is the language of instruction at St. Matthew's University, it is important that applicants be prepared academically to pursue the curriculum and also be able to communicate well.
