This top-up award is suitable for you if you have a HND or foundation degree and wish to develop your award to degree level. It prepares you for a career in an industry where there a demand for engineers with a sound knowledge of engineering applications, as well as people who understand the necessary techniques to develop, test and maintain them.
Industry needs specialist graduate engineers capable of applying manufacturing and processing techniques to a range of disciplines. This course is designed to address the skills shortage of manufacture and process engineers.
You gain a solid foundation of engineering principles and develop your manufacturing-specific knowledge relevant to industries such as precision engineering, automated manufacture and process manufacturing. Your understanding of core engineering subjects and manufacturing specialisms is also developed.
Our world-class teaching laboratories include state of the art testing and analysis equipment which is housed in modern laboratories, and staffed by highly experienced and knowledgeable staff. Facilities include materials properties, heat treatment, mechanical testing and automation laboratories.
As well as specialist knowledge, you gain the professional and personal skills needed for a successful career in industry and commercial engineering enterprises. A project management module also develops your ability to plan, organise and manage resources.
Assessment tasks progressively mirror many of the projects that experts in industry and the professions would carry out, but are also designed to develop and test many of the key skills needed in employment generally.
By successfully completing the course, you gain the academic skills needed for initial registration as an Incorporated Engineer (IEng). This includes individual and group project work, presentations, independent learning and work-related learning.

This programme is IEng accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and fulfils the educational requirements for registration as an Incorporated Engineer.
