Program description

Artificial Intelligence and Robotics

The aim of the Master in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics is offering students the ability to interact with professional workers in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Mechanical, Electronics and Control Engineering and with professional users of the involved application areas such as the ones which need the representation and the use of knowledge or sensorial information, automatic machine learning, real time planning, industrial robotics and services, video and pictures detection and simulation and human-computer interaction.

Admission requirements

Academic Requirements: An applicant must have an undergraduate degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or other scientific disciplines specific topics are:

  • Mathematics: Basic notion of Geometry and Linear Algebra. Vectors and matrices. Solution of linear systems of equations. Basic notions of Calculus. Numerical integration of differential equations, numerical differentiation of signals. Basic statistics.
  • Physics: Kinematics of a point and of a rigid body in 3D. Specific background for Computer and System Engineering:
  • Automatic Control: The concept of dynamical system. Linear transfer functions. The principle of feedback and its properties (stabilization, rejection of disturbances, robustness to uncertainties).
  • Computer Science/Engineering: Good programming skills (not only MATLAB), including object oriented programming and memory management. Knowledge of algorithms and data structures, operating systems, computer networks. Development of software applications of medium size.

Minimum GPA: 65/100

Selected students will be invited for a Skype interview for an assessment of their skills and background. The interview will include technical questions related to the aforementioned background.

Minimum English Language Requirements: Upper Intermediate (CEFR Level B2) The following test scores are accepted:

  • l IELTS Academic 6.0 or higher
  • l TOEFL IbT 80 or higher
  • l Cambridge B2 First or higher
  • l TOEIC Listening&Reading 720 or higher

Please note: the above requirements may be waived for students holding a degree from an accredited institution where English is the main language of instruction.

In relation to the multi-disciplinary nature of the methodologies used in artificial intelligence and robotics, as well as the variety of possible domains of application, graduates in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics will in fact interact on the one hand with specialists from different engineering sectors ( information technology, mechanics, electronics, automatic) and on the other with experts and users of the many application areas involved. For the training of an engineer with a master's degree in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, a solid and broad basic culture and engineering disciplines, specific knowledge of Computer Science and Automation, and adequate design activity are required.

The training path of the Master's Degree in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics is based on the assumption that the student has previously acquired the knowledge relating to the basic scientific culture and the disciplines of Engineering. To this end, various courses are planned for the master's degree in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics in relation to the type of degree and the candidate's curriculum.
