Master in Economics From the Austrian School

Design a program of studies and quality research, taught by professionals with international recognition in the field of Economics of the Austrian School. Start in postgraduate research, using the methodological rigor that characterizes the Austrian School of Economics, the important number of postgraduate students that has visited the Department of Applied Economics I of the URJC in recent years, and which has led to a relevant number of doctoral theses defended with the highest rating. Some of these theses have received national research awards, and most of those who are doctors today hold teaching positions in the URJC itself or in other university institutions. Promote the processes of theoretical and technical training necessary for the subsequent completion of a doctorate, both for national and foreign students who come primarily from higher degree qualifications with training in Social Sciences and Humanities. For this reason, the three universities that promote this program have been associated. Encourage the realization of quality doctoral theses, from a multidisciplinary perspective, -economic, political, sociological, etc.- in the broad methodological field of the Austrian School of Economics.

To train national and foreign specialists with competence in their areas of research at the international level, trained to study and develop new research projects in the field of Economic Science from the perspective of Economic Theory and Methodology of the Austrian School of Economics. Establish a work program, contrasted internationally given the success of the Mises Institute in the United States, involving in the future professionals from other institutions, both national and foreign. Incorporate into a systematized program of study the important number of postgraduate students, national and foreign, who in recent years have shown an increasing interest in the topics of Economics of the Austrian School, joining the PhD in Economics of the Rey Juan Carlos University and , in particular, to the seminars taught by Professor Jesús Huerta de Soto.

The requirements for access to the proposed title are according to article 16 of Royal Decree 1393/2007, modified by Royal Decree 861/2010, of July 2:

  1. To access the official master's degree programs, it will be necessary to hold an official university degree from Spain or another one issued by a higher education institution belonging to another member state of the European Higher Education Area, which will authorize access to university master education.
  2. Likewise, graduates may access according to educational systems outside the European Higher Education Area without the need for homologation of their degrees, after verification by the University that they accredit a level of education equivalent to the corresponding official Spanish university degrees and that they authorize in the issuing country the title for access to postgraduate education. The access by this way will not imply, in any case, the homologation of the previous title of the one in possession of the interested party, nor its recognition for other purposes than that of studying the Master's degree.
