Program description

The Foundation Degree (FdSc) in Applied Biosciences equips graduates for careers in the NHS and associated healthcare businesses. This course provides key knowledge and practical skills, grounded within the biological and biochemical areas fundamental to healthcare and medicine. Topics include infectious diseases, molecular and cellular biology, elements of cancer biology, pharmacology and diagnostic approaches in the modern healthcare industry. You will receive training in advanced computational and data analysis, which is becoming vital to the NHS and its supporting network of partners. There are two pathways. Applied Biosciences has a broad modern science curriculum. Applied Biosciences (Health Informatics) explores the understanding and application of computational topics with a focus on analysing the large data sets of patient information that are beginning to aid the practice of medicine today.
