Joint Honours degrees enable you to have the maximum flexibility to study subject areas that really interest you. NTU’s Spanish courses are in the UK’s Top 20 for student satisfaction (NSS 2017). SPANISH can be studied at beginner or GCSE level where you won't need any prior knowledge of the language. If you'd like to study Spanish at post A-level then you'll need an A-level in Spanish. The course explores a range of interesting aspects of Spanish culture, politics and society and will provide you with an in-depth analysis of these areas which you'll be able to incorporate during Year Three. You'll have the option to spend time either working or studying abroad in either Spain or South America to gain independence and learn about the Spanish culture, politics and history. NTU's TESOL course is ideal for anyone who is interested in teaching English to foreign learners, NTU offer an internationally recognised teaching qualification too which will help you to stand out amongst other undergraduates. By combining TESOL with Spanish you'll be able to explore more career options based in either the UK or abroad surrounding teaching. Spanish at NTU has been created to ensure that you gain a quick learning of the language and an in-depth understanding of the societies and cultures in which it's spoken. You’ll also have an exciting opportunity to either work or study in Spain or South America during your third year to practically apply your learning and gain additional knowledge. This course will help you to gain an impressive communication skill whilst developing your accuracy and fluency of the modern language of Spanish. Our partner universities are in; Alcalá, Avila, León, Madrid, Salamanca, Murcia, Granada, Valencia, Oviedo, the Basque Country and Santiago ( Chile). An ability to speak a modern language can help you to stand out within the graduate employment market and to gain useful skills for your professional and personal life. NTU has a 90% student satisfaction rate for Iberian Studies (NSS 2017). TESOL at NTU will open up many new and varied career prospects both nationally and internationally. You'll learn how to plan and deliver English Language lessons to a range of people. You'll be given opportunities on a regular basis to practice teaching in the classroom and gain an insight into English language and linguistics, which will help you to discover modern methods of how to teach the English language. You'll also have the chance to take the Teaching Knowledge Test and the Cambridge CELTA qualification, which are globally recognised qualifications for English Language teachers. By studying Spanish at NTU you'll get plenty of opportunity to practise the Spanish language with your peers and native-Spanish speakers in and outside of the classroom. You'll develop excellent reading and listening skills which you'll be able to utilise when teaching English or Spanish in the UK or overseas. You'll be able to think more critically, experience another language and culture which will boost your travel experience. 90% of our Spanish joint honours undergraduates are in work or further study within six months of finishing their degree (DLHE 2015-16). Studying Spanish will help to open more career prospects for you such as teaching, business and working for European governments and it will help you to learn new ways of negotiating, become more intellectual and creative. TESOL at NTU will give you an opportunity to gain globally recognised teaching qualifications - Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT) and the Cambridge CELTA qualification, which will help you to secure teaching posts across the world. You'll learn how to plan and deliver English language lessons to a range of people with varied abilities. You'll be able to shadow a foreign teacher to then understand the elements that create the English language and gain a background into linguistics which will help you to effectively teach English to foreign learners.
