Joint Honours degrees enable you to have the maximum flexibility to study subject areas that really interest you. You can shape your study according to your strengths, interests and career ambitions. SPANISH can be studied at beginner or GCSE level where you won't need any prior knowledge of the language. If you'd like to study Spanish at post A-level then you'll need an A-level in Spanish at grade C or above. The course explores a range of interesting aspects of Spanish culture, politics and society and will provide you with an in-depth analysis of these areas. NTU’s Spanish courses are in the UK’s Top 20 for student satisfaction (NSS 2017). EUROPEAN STUDIES at NTU will give you the chance to study the interesting areas of European politics, society and culture. The course will help you to examine the historical, social and political impacts which have shaped European culture and the various cultures which sit within it. This joint honours degree allows you to choose a selection of modules that are in line with your strengths, and interest and will also challenge you. Spanish at NTU has been created to ensure that you gain a quick learning of the language and an in-depth understanding of the societies and cultures in which it's spoken. You’ll also have an exciting opportunity to either work or study in Spain or South America during your third year to practically apply your learning and gain additional knowledge. This course will help you to gain an impressive communicative skill whilst developing your accuracy and fluency of Spanish. Our partner universities are in; Alcalá, Avila, León, Madrid, Salamanca, Murcia, Granada, Valencia, Oviedo, the Basque Country and Santiago ( Chile). European Studies will provide you with a detailed understanding of the many factors which have shaped contemporary Europe. This course offers a unique opportunity to specialise in European Cultural Studies, European Cinema or European Politics and Society. You’ll examine how historical, geographical and cultural factors have impacted contemporary Europe and contemporary issues. You'll be taught by active researchers whose current strengths include, social movements, gender and Cinema and they'll encourage you to question whether there is a common European culture and what Europe is. This joint honours degree will prepare you for a range of national and international careers. European studies will help to give you a broad understanding of Contemporary Europe whilst examining Europe's historical, geographical and cultural meanings. This course offers a unique opportunity to specialise in a particular area such as European Cultural Studies or European Cinema which will help your degree to stand out in the employment market after graduating. You'll also obtain important knowledge surrounding the EU deal with migration and energy and the environment, which will provide you with a high level of knowledge to undertake numerous career options available to you both nationally and internationally. A degree in Spanish can give your course a competitive edge that will help you to find employment all over the globe, which will help increase your travel experience. Language undergraduates are highly sought after by many of today's leading firms. More NTU graduates continue to be recruited by firms located in Spain and Latin America. You'll develop great reading and listening skills, improve your fluency and accuracy of the Spanish language which will support you with a range of careers based in the UK and overseas. 90% of our Spanish joint honours undergraduates are in work or further study within six months of finishing their degree (DLHE 2015-16). An increasing number of our graduates continue to be recruited by firms based in Spain or Latin America for many roles including specific government departments and translation and interpretation roles.
