Joint Honours degrees give you the maximum flexibility to study subject areas that genuinely interest you. You’ll be able to shape your study according to your strengths, interests and career ambitions.

Global studies and TESOL allow you to enjoy a wide and varied range of modules. Global Studies will give you the opportunity to focus on developing an understanding of pressing social, cultural and political crises If you're interested in teaching English in the UK or abroad, then this joint honours degree will give you a well-rounded global perspective and international flare that will help you to stand out in the competitive job market.

Our joint honours degrees offer you the flexibility to study subject areas that are of interests, your strengths and career ambitions. GLOBAL STUDIES at NTU enables you to engage with the world as a global citizen and to incorporate world relevance into your degree. You'll focus on developing an understanding of the global dimensions of social, cultural, political and economic issues. This course is ideal for you if you have an interest in current global crises such as; migration, conflict, inequality, food security and the everyday experiences of people living in globalised communities. 91% of our global studies joint honours undergraduates are in work or further study within just six months of finishing their degree (DLHE 2015-16). TESOL will open up many new and varied career prospects both nationally and internationally. You'll learn how to plan and deliver English Language lessons to a range of people. You'll be given opportunities on a regular basis to practice teaching in the classroom and gain an insight into English language and linguistics, which will help you to discover modern methods of how to teach the English language. You'll also be given the opportunity to take the Teaching Knowledge Test and the Cambridge CELTA qualification, which are globally recognised qualifications for English Language teachers.

This joint honours degree will help you to gain transferable and global workplace skills which are necessary when offering expertise knowledge of the evolving world. You'll also gain global citizen competencies such as being proactive, organised and second to none planning skills which are important competencies to have if you wish to teach after your degree. As part of our TESOL degree you'll have the opportunity to take the Teaching Knowledge Test which is a globally recognised qualification for English Language Teachers. This additional qualification and your global expertise will give you an international flare that will help you to stand out in the graduate employment market. Many of our recent graduates have gone on to explore teaching posts both nationally and internationally. Others are teaching refugees and asylum seekers English in UK colleges and some have pursued various media professions.
