Joint Honours degrees give you the maximum flexibility to study subject areas that really interest you. You can shape your study according to your strengths, interests and career ambitions. Global Studies will give you the opportunity to focus on developing an understanding of social, cultural and political changes and how this affects global trends and tensions. Our Italian course will give you a detailed understanding of the Italian language and the societies and cultures in which it is spoken. GLOBAL STUDIES at NTU will allow you to study a variety of world views surrounding intercultural communications, globalised media and world cities. You’ll gain a well-rounded knowledge of the global dimensions which affect social, cultural, political and economic issues. The course investigates the inequalities that are posed and are being posed into developing countries and through this you'll recognise global trends and tensions. This diverse course will allow you to engage with the world as a global citizen whilst supplying you with the tools to succeed in the growing international workplace. You'll be able to learn the language at a beginner level, if you wish to study Italian as a post A-level, then you'll need A-level Italian. The course will ensure that you pick up the language quickly through the use of language classes delivered in Italian where you'll explore politics, culture and society. You’ll be taught Italian through the latest language teaching methodologies and CALL technologies and have access to the fantastic language resource centres, which will help you to gain a better understanding of the language. NTU’s Italian courses are Number One in the UK for student satisfaction (NSS 2017).If you wish to increase your career options, you can take a final year module that develops translation and interpreting skills.

You'll develop the necessary transferable and global workplace skills necessary to offer expertise on the evolving world, whilst enhancing your global citizen competencies to work in national/ international institutions and non-governmental organisations. This course will equip you with the right tools to be able to predict global trends and tensions. A knowledge of Italian language and culture is important for a variety of professions including business, technology, fashion and design. This course has been designed to ensure that you receive a rapid progress in the Italian language and in-depth knowledge of the societies and cultures in which it is spoken. During Year Three you can spend your time working or studying in Italy, these opportunities will provide you with independence, initiative and organisation skills, which are attributes that potential employers will be looking for. 93% of our Italian joint honours undergraduates are in work or further study within just six months of finishing their degree (DLHE 2015-16). Our recent graduates are working as teachers, academics, jewellery designers, international lawyers, or have undertaken further vocational study in translation and interpreting. Others have chosen a pathway into various media professions and within the field of linguistics and languages.
