Joint Honours degrees enable you to have the maximum flexibility to study subject areas that really interest you. Our FRENCH course is offered as a post A-level subject. The course allows you to study the French language, country, politics and culture through a selection of lively options, including modules which examine cinema and literature. NTU’s French courses are in the UK's Top 15 for student satisfaction (NSS 2017). PHILOSOPHY gives you the ability to question the world in a critical manner which is a vital skill which many of today's leading employers are seeking. You'll be encouraged to develop your powers of argument, think critically and be open minded to search for answers to ultimate questions. This course is ideal for anyone who wishes to improve the way in which they communicate and to understand some of the philosophical problems which some of today's world's leaders have to face in their professional and public lives. French at NTU has been created to ensure a quick learning progress of the French language and an in-depth understanding of the societies and cultures in which it is spoken. It is offered as a post A-level subject for students who have already achieved A-level French at grade C or above. You’ll also have the exciting option to either work or study in France during your third year. This course will help you to gain an impressive communication skills within a modern language, whilst developing your accuracy and fluency. You'll quickly enhance your language skills through the use of French language classes which will explore culture, literature, society and politics and you’ll be taught with the latest teaching methods and CALL technologies. To help improve your career prospects you'll be able to take a final year module that will develop your translation and interpretation skills. Philosophy at NTU aims to develop your powers of argument, critical thinking and conceptual analysis through the search for answers to ultimate questions. This course differs from the typical philosophy courses on offer at most other universities as it is not a course in the history of ideas. The course is organised around some of the philosophical problems faced by today's decision-makers in their professional lives. In general, this course examines the interface between philosophical ideas and everyday life, and has been designed in order to help you think more clearly and more critically about the world in which you live. This philosophy course is in the UK's Top 25 for student satisfaction (NSS 2017). This joint honours degree will provide you with a breadth of skills that today's employers are actively seeking in undergraduates, such as; be able to prioritise work, be independently motivated and the ability to meet tight deadlines. You'll be able to question the world and search for answers to ultimate questions, as well as develop your powers of argument, critical thinking and conceptual analysis. Our French course will help enhance your verbal and written communication skills within a modern language, which can place you at an advantage within the graduate global employment market. During your third year of study when you decide to either work or study in France you'll develop vital life skills such as; independence, creativity, sense of social responsibility and the ability to take an initiative. In today's competitive market, students with a language degree can be placed at an advantage when it comes to recruiting for positions within the UK and abroad. 95% of our French undergraduates are in work or further study within just six months of finishing their degree (DLHE 2015-16).

Many of our students have taken up positions within The United Nations and The European Parliament. Others have gone into teaching, finance, project management, journalism and some have taken up positions within the voluntary sector.
