FRENCH is offered as a post A-level subject. Our French course allows you to study the French language, country, politics and culture through a selection of lively options, including modules which examine cinema and literature. 91% student satisfaction rate for French Studies (NSS 2017). You'll learn the language at a quick speed and be able to progress within the study of the language, to understand the cultures and societies in which it is spoken in. GERMAN at NTU is offered as a post A-level subject. Our German course covers language and life in Germany as well as exploring the implications of history, society and politics. You'll examine a range of contemporary German Film and Literature. French at NTU has been created to ensure a quick learning progress of the French language and an in-depth understanding of the societies and cultures in which it is spoken. You'll also have the exciting option to either work or study in France during your third year. This course will help you to gain an impressive communicative skill whilst developing your accuracy and fluency. You'll quickly enhance your language skills through the use of French language classes which will explore culture, society and politics. To help improve your career prospects you'll be able to take a final year module that will develop your translation and interpretation skills. German at NTU has been created to ensure that you quickly learn the language through Language classes before delving into an in-depth understanding of the cultures and societies in which it is spoken.
In Year Three you can spend time working or studying in Germany or Austria. Our partner universities are found in Bremen, Freiburg, Karlsruhe, Paderborn, Potsdam and Innsbruck.
Both languages will be taught by using the latest language-teaching methodologies and CALL technologies. This course will help you to gain a broad and impressive communicative skill set whilst developing your accuracy and fluency within both modern languages. This joint honours degree will prepare you for a range of national and international careers. You'll gain a critical understanding of French and German politics, culture, society, progress within written and verbal communication of the languages and gain valuable translation skills. 95% of our French joint honours undergraduates are in work or further study within just six months of finishing their degree (DLHE 2015-16). Our recent graduates have taken on roles within the United Nations, various international charities and UK government departments. Language graduates are in a great demand for a variety of occupations such as, the media, industry and education.
