Joint Honours degrees offer you the maximum flexibility to study subject areas that genuinely interest you. You’ll be able to shape your study according to your strengths, interests and career ambitions.

This joint honours degree offers a range of interesting and relevant modules for anyone who is interested in communication methods and the film industry. Communication & Society will introduce you to interesting new forms of politics and economics and how these are vital to understand different variations of communication. Film & TV will show you how films and TV programmes are created, how they work and how we create meaning from them as an audience.

Communication & Society will allow you to examine the rapidly changing transformations society, people and technologies are taking. Therefore, it's important that you understand the different forms of social communication that takes place between individuals, organisations, humanity and nature. This course will also explore the way that communication takes shape through the evolving use of the media. The course uses an equal amount of theoretical and practical aspects of communication including non-verbal and unconscious communication. Both subjects will teach you through a variation of lectures, tutorials and workshops and you'll partake in discussions and group work. You'll also examine the importance of the media through which communication takes place. 100% of our communication & society joint honours undergraduates are in work or further study within just six months of finishing their degree (DLHE 2015-16).The Film and TV course will complement media course by helping you to progress with your learning and understanding of both industries and how they are connected. This subject will help to build your understanding of how film and TV programmes are constructed, work and create meaning for audiences. You'll learn about the role of the audience in global organisations and through digital media. This Media course is in the UK's Top 25 for student satisfaction (NSS 2017).
