Program description

Our Employee Relations programme offers a unique educational opportunity for anyone concerned with the development of effective workplace relations. It prepares students to operate as effective practitioners who comply with the highest professional standards and continuously develop their professional capability.

The course has been designed and developed with large employers and unions who are members of the Employee Relations Institute. Through this unique collaboration, you will develop the understanding and skills needed to enhance your employability and contributions to the workplace.

The course offers a unique educational opportunity for anyone concerned with the development of effective workplace relations in their workplace.

It seeks to draw together a shared understanding of this relationship from the major stakeholder groups within an organisation.

Our current students are all from large organisations and trade unions.


The course is very flexible and is delivered via block learning in a combination of lectures, case studies, debates, action learning workshops, distance learning projects and guided self-study.

It is taught as a ‘blocked’ programme in 6 x 2 day sessions over the year. The dates for the PGCert are as follows:

Induction - Thursday 29 September and Friday 30 September 2016
Block 1 - Monday 17 October and Tuesday 18 October 2016
Block 2 - Monday 14 November and Tuesday 15 November 2016
Block 3 - Monday 12 December and Tuesday 13 December 2016
Block 4 - Monday 30 January and Tuesday 31 January 2017
Block 5 - Monday 27 February and Tuesday 28 February 2017
Block 6 - Monday 24 April and Tuesday 25 April 2017

The dates for 2017/18 will follow a very similar pattern, as do the diploma and masters' stage.
