Program description

Have you always had a penchant for people management? Can you see yourself in an HR role but you’re just not quite sure how to get there? If this sounds like your dream and you want to pursue it, then take the first step! You can gain the knowledge and expertise to add this capability to your management repertoire.

This programme is delivered via online study through TANZ eCampus.

Do you have a desire to work in the HR field, and you need a stronger understanding of the wide range of competencies and how to deliver on them effectively? Or maybe you are already working in HR and you want to formalise your skills and take the next step? This qualification will provide you with the skills and knowledge to move forward in your career with the comfort that comes with a recognised qualification.

Courses

To complete the New Zealand Diploma in Business (Human Resource Management) (Level 5) the following courses are available. There are four core courses that we recommend that you study first. These are: Understanding Change, Business Functions, Business Environments, and Organisations in a New Zealand Context. How will I learn?

You can fit your study around your work, family and lifestyle – there is no need to be a full-time student while studying with TANZ eCampus. You can work and learn. All study is completely online – with supportive facilitators and advisors to help you along the way.

How long will it take?

All our qualifications have flexible start dates with courses available to start at regular times throughout the year.

This qualification is made up of eight courses. Each course is delivered over 9 weeks. NZQA guidelines suggest up to 150 hours of total study time for a 15 credit course. So to complete one of the courses successfully in the 9 weeks you must be prepared to devote approximately 16.5 hours per week to your study. Depending on your previous academic online experience and course level this may vary to a certain degree.

Career and study pathways

On completion of this qualification you will have the skills and knowledge to take on entry level HR roles or a supervisory or first line management role.

Admission requirements

Academic Requirements

Students are required to complete international qualifications equivalent to New Zealand NCEA Level 1 or 2 qualification. Entry requirements vary from country to country.

Equivalent relevant business experience

English Language Requirements

IELTS 6.0 Academic (no lower than 5.5 in any subtest)

TOEFL Paper based test (pBT) - Score of 550 (with an essay score of 5 TWE)

TOEFL Internet-based test (iBT) - Score of 60 (with a writing score of 20)

University of Cambridge English Examinations - FCE, or FCE for schools, or CAE, or CPE with a score of 169. No less than 162 in each skill

Pearson Test of English (Academic): PToE (Academic) score of 50

City & Guilds IESOL - B2 Communicator with a score of 66
