Information Technology, Master of Engineering

Master's Degree in Information Technology helps you to proceed in your career to advanced specialist tasks in the field of ICT, focusing on two fields: Networking and Services, and Medical Technology. The program is targeted for professionals in working life wishing to become a Master in Information Technology. Studies are designed and implemented in such a way that students in full-time employment can participate

Program content

The degree consists of Professional Studies (30 ECTS credits) and Masters thesis project (30 ECTS credits). Studies consist of lectures, laboratory work, workshops, assignments, and projects as well as independent studying.

The program is divided into two fields of specialization (learning paths): Networking and Services, and Medical Technology. The selection is asked in the application process. A field of specialization is started only if enough eligible students have passed the application process.

  • Research approaches (action research, multiple and single case studies, construction research approach

Cyber Security

  • Contemporary cyber security threats
  • Threat analysis and cyber defence

Fundamentals of Data Science and Machine Learning

  • Python programming language and its use in processing data
  • Tools for the analysis and visualisation of data, basic statistical methods

Medical Technology

Medical Devices and Environments of Use

  • Medical devices including physical devices, software and artificial intelligence
  • Clinical environments, users, workflow and care guidelines
  • Methods for defining clinical requirements
  • Specifying clinical requirements for selected medical device

  • Medical device regulation in EU: requirements for medical devices and manufacturers
  • Essential standards
  • Methods for defining intended use and risk class, and risk management

Safety Related Usability

  • Basic concepts of usability
  • Medical device safety of use
  • Usability engineering methods in medical device development
  • Planning and conducting a usability test for selected medical device

Medical Device Life Cycle

  • Medical device business environment
