Midwifery (BSc)

The Medical University of Lublin offers the 3-year Bachelor of Midwifery Program that meets national and EU standards. 

The curriculum includes the following subjects:

  • Basic sciences: anatomy, physiology, pathology, embryology and genetics, biochemistry and biophysics, microbiology and parasitology, pharmacology, radiology.

  • Social sciences and human sciences: psychology, sociology, pedagogy, medical law, public health, Polish language.

  • Sciences in the basics of midwifery care: basics of midwifery care, ethic of the profession of a midwife, health promotion, primary health care, dietetics, organization of midwives work, physical examination, hospital infections, health care information system, elective courses: sign language or cooperation in interdisciplinary health care teams.
  • Sciences in the specialist care: obstetric techniques and conducting delivery, obstetrics and obstetric care, gynaecology and gynaecological care, neonatology and neonatal care, paediatrics and paediatric nursing, internal diseases, surgery, psychiatry, anaesthesiology and health life-threatening conditions, rehabilitation in obstetrics, neonatology and gynaecology, basics of emergency medical care, scientific research in midwifery.

Practical classes and apprenticeships are organized so that acquiring practical skills in natural conditions is preceded by mastering these skills in simulated low-fidelity conditions (in obstetric skills laboratories, in nursing skills laboratories, in the Medical Simulation Center).

Practical classes and professional practices are conducted in hospital wards, such as: birth wards, maternity and neonatal wards, pregnancy pathology, gynaecology, gynaecological oncology wards, in primary health care services (primary midwifery care and primary care physician), in gynecological and gynecological and obstetrics clinics, as well as in antenatal classes and breastfeeding clinics.

Evaluation of applications from candidates for Bachelor of Nursing {Midwifery] Program  is performed on the basis of their high school diploma or the confirmation of the final secondary examination. The subjects required for admission are Biology and one subject out of the following: Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. The grades/results for these subjects will be calculated into admission points as per the information attached below. The maximum number of points for subjects taken into consideration is 200.


After positive verification of submitted documents, candidate takes part in the interview. Interview consists of questions divided into categories listed below:

- Motivation

- Empathy

- Teamwork

- Career aspirations

Entrance Interview is conducted online. The maximum number of points to be obtained in an Interview is 100.

Detailed rules of admission

In order to be eligible for admission candidates must obtain at least 60% of all application points recalculated from high school grades (obligatory Biology and on other subject out of following: Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics) and at least 60% of points from interview [180 points from diploma and 60 interview points].
