Program description


The physiotherapy degree program takes place at Masaryk University and the degree is internationally recognized in physiotherapy both in Europe and the United States. A Bachelor of Physical Therapy from Masaryk University gives you plenty of opportunities to start an international career or a career in your home country with your own clinic as a physical therapist. The training takes place in English and lasts 3 years.

Masaryk University has existed for over 90 years and is the second largest university in the Czech Republic with over 43,000 students. The university has many foreign students and therefore you get professional help and advice on application, housing and other practical questions. It contains the physical therapy education in the Czech Republic With a Bachelor of Physical Therapy, you can expect to gain insight into the following areas: physiology, biochemistry, biophysics, medical rehabilitation and kinesiology psychology, psychiatry, epidemiology and ethics.

You will be able to work in all areas of care from trauma, injury, gynecology and internal medicine. It depends on what interests you in physiotherapy. The physiotherapist program at Masaryk University gives you both theory and practice in the subject. The teaching of physical therapy is based on a strong foundation of scientific research and professional educators. 

Admission requirements

Every applicant must have successfully completed secondary education (i.e. secondary school, high school, college, etc.) after passing a final graduation exam (school-leaving examination) and receiving a “high school diploma” (school-leaving certificate, e.g. A-level certificate).

Applicants are accepted after successfully passing a comprehensive written entrance examination consisting of three separate tests in the following subject areas: Chemistry, Biology, Physics, or Mathematics (General Medicine and Dentistry programs).

Further details on terms, times, and venues regarding the entrance examination will be specified in an “Invitation Letter”, posted to applicants.

Language Requirements

Although classes are offered in English, students are obliged to undertake training and pass examinations in the Czech language at the end of their first, second, third, and fourth years of study. This is necessary in order to be able to communicate with patients in Czech when they begin their practical clinical training (internships) in hospitals.

The curriculum for Physiotherapy leads to a diploma degree in "Scientiæ Baccalaureus" (abbreviated to Bc., placed in front of the holder’s name). Bc. is equivalent to BSc., i.e. Bachelor of Science.
