BSc (Hons) Nursing Studies Top Up (International)

This course provides academic and professional development for nurses who have a Diploma of Nursing from outside the UK, who wish to enhance their career opportunities by attaining an honours degree qualification. It will prepare you to the required standard for NMC registration by the OSCE.

With the professional/practitioner in mind for the UK market, the course is also designed to prepare for the overseas registration process (OSCE test) at an approved NMC test centre. Together with inter-professional learning opportunities, an understanding of UK healthcare policy, demographics, organisational, ethical and evidence-base, after completion you will be work ready for the challenges of the UK healthcare system.

  • Additional Requirements Overseas Diploma in Nursing with 240 credits or equivalent to 120 HE level 5 credits
  • Academic IELTS 6.5 overall with 6.0 in writing, or OET, or an equivalent accepted English qualification.

Scholarships & funding

International students applying for the course via SPM Solutions or BA Healthcare who meet the admissions criteria and are successful in gaining a place on the course will be eligible for a £3,000 scholarship which will be discounted from the full £14,000 course fee.

Manchester Met is offering a scholarship package of £2,000 for every year of study to international students accepted onto a full-time taught undergraduate program that starts in September 2020. If you meet the eligibility criteria, the scholarship will be awarded upon enrolment, no application is required.

Program delivery

This 12 month course integrates theory into simulated clinical skills throughout. There will be exposure to clinical practice in local hospitals and community settings in each unit. You will be encouraged to gain hands-on care for at least 1 shift per week during the year. Leadership and management theory and practice will enable you to graduate as confident professionals.

If we classify you as an EU or Non-EU International student, you will normally pay between £16,500 and £18,000.

Qualification

A benefit of this course is the preparation, to the required standard, of the knowledge and skills that will be tested on part 2 of the NMC OSCE. For successful candidates, this will achieve NMC nurse registration.

Career opportunities

Leadership and management theory and practice will enable you to graduate as confident professionals.

If you intend to progress to NMC registration you'll have the opportunity, throughout the final unit of the course, to prepare for the OSCE (NMC part 2). This will require an IELTS (or equivalent) of 7 (6.5 in writing) and a pass in the CBT (part 1) within two years.

The academic team comprises of two NMC OSCE trainers who will support the OSCE preparation during the course.
