About this program

Sport Sciences: Sport in Society (2 Year)

What is the role of sport in a world facing pressing social challenges? How do we understand the possibilities and challenges of sport as a platform for social change? How do we examine and analyse sport and sport science research to find new perspectives on the role of sports? How can we look critically at the development of sport in relation to social processes such as globalization, migration and urbanisation?

Sport Science: Sport in Society is a two-year master’s program that tackles these questions. During the program, students develop applied skills and a critical knowledge base to work with sport, leisure, and health industries as platforms for social change.

Admission requirements

A Bachelor degree with at least 180 credits or an equivalent foreign degree, a minimum of 90 credits in sport science, sport studies, sport and exercise science, sport management, sport business, human movement studies, kinesiology, physical education, sport politics, sport coaching, sport psychology, public health, exercise and nutrition, recreation management or equivalent.

The equivalent of English B / English 6 in Swedish secondary school.

Masters Degree (two-year) with main field of Sport Science, 120 credits
Master's degree is obtained after the student has completed program requirements 120 ECTS credits, of which at least 90 credits with a gradual degree in the main field.

Upon completion of the program, Malmö University issues a degree certificates upon application. The Swedish degree certificate Masterexamen i Idrottsvetenskap. The English translation of the degree certificate specifies Master (Two Years/120 ECTS) of Science Sport Sciences.
