Since 1973, LdM has built its reputation as one of Italy's most reputable international higher education institutes. Each year, LdM welcomes over 3000 students from over 100 different countries.

LdM offers authentic Italian learning and living experiences at its three campuses: Florence, Rome, and Tuscania (a historic hill town in the Latium countryside). High-quality study abroad programs and professional certificate courses are available in a range of academic subject divisions, including:

  • Liberal Arts and Social Sciences
  • Sciences
  • Agriculture
  • Creative Arts
  • Design
  • Italian Language and Culture

All courses - with the exception of Italian Language - are taught in English.

Experiential Learning

LdM blends traditional and theoretical learning approaches with innovative and practical study, in order to fully prepare students for successful careers in their respective fields. The institute aims to empower students to push the limits of their own creativity, in order to realize their own potential and make powerful use of the knowledge they acquire.

The institute adopts an interdisciplinary approach and a deep engagement with the professional sector, in order to help students secure the practical skills they need to meet the challenges of their future fields.

An Authentic Italian Experience

LdM helps students to foster meaningful interactions with the Italian community, in order to get the most from their surroundings, both on an academic and personal level.

Each campus has its own distinctive character, which reflects its culture and history. Students benefit from the artistic roots of historical Florence, the vibrant eternal city of Rome, and the true Italian experience of Tuscania.

General Housing Information

Students attending LdM have various housing options and LdM offers a housing service to help them find accommodations at all of its sites. Students generally live in shared apartments with other students or they can choose to live in homestays with a local host, which includes half board/meals.

Shared Apartments

The shared apartment option is the most popular housing option. Each LdM campus offers
apartment accommodations shared with other LdM students.

  • Apartments in Italy, especially in the historic centers, are all situated in historic buildings and therefore no apartments are alike.
  • Although LdM maintains a standard for all apartments, there are differences in appearance, general condition and travel time from the Institute.
  • Apartments are furnished and equipped with bed linens, towels, basic pots and pans, kitchen utensils, washing machine and a TV. All apartments are provided with Internet service.
  • Apartments are not provided with a phone or air conditioning.
  • All apartments are NON-SMOKING.
  • Apartments are not all located in the same building, but within walking distance from the school facilities or easily reachable by public transportation.
  • The student shared apartments usually house 2-6 people. Students are not obliged to choose housing through LdM, however, and may find their own accommodations independently.
