Program description

International Relations and Politics BA (Full-time)

Why study this course?

Our undergraduate degree offers you a chance to study politics and also specialise in its sub-discipline, international relations. You’ll look at issues that are currently at the top of the news agenda and discover how we’re governed across countries and globally. Drawing on the expertise of our teaching staff, you’ll examine international issues influencing politics, such as security, saving the environment, controlling nuclear arms and fighting for democracy.

Our honours degree will allow you to gain a broad understanding of two fields – international relations and politics. You’ll be encouraged to specialise in unique areas of both disciplines through optional modules such as American Foreign Policy, Modern British Politics and International Security in the Era of Globalisation.

Our expert lecturers have experience as councillors, international commercial negotiators, company directors and include current members of the Political Studies Association and the British International Studies Association. They regularly contribute to the BBC and other media outlets. This wide range of experience means you'll be taught by staff who can share professional insight and knowledge of the latest academic research.

You'll also have the opportunity to undertake a work placement to improve your career prospects. Our connections to political and international institutions around the world, combined with our London location, will improve your chances of securing a placement with organisations such as the United Nations, Amnesty International.
