Why study this course?
Graduates from this degree can progress into financial mathematics careers, but also work more broadly in the finance and banking industry as a whole. In addition the graduates from this course can proceed to PGCE in Secondary Mathematics Teaching as well as MSc in Financial and Mathematics areas. Since at least half of this degree is in Mathematics and Mathematics is SIV (Strategically Important and Vulnerable) subject, the students on this course will be eligible for ELQ (Equal Level Qualifications) funding.

Learning activities include lectures, tutorials, seminars, computer-based learning, case studies and investigations.
You'll learn how to apply mathematical processes in problem solving, developing arguments with appropriate conclusions and an evaluation of their limitations. You'll also formulate complex problems and analyse the results in context. These skills will be developed by learning activities such as problem solving classes, case studies, data-driven analysis, independent research and study.
All mathematics and computing modules will have presence on the University virtual learning environment. Apart from standard information such as modules, staff contact details, surgery/office hours and regular notice boards, it will also include, where appropriate, online submission of assessments, marking and feedback; online quizzes, reusable learning objects, e-portfolios and social networking tools.
Further in the course the specific local software will be used such as Computer Algebra packages (MAPLE), SQL, ORACLE and programming language (e.g. Python) to enhance students learning.
