This is the course for you if you are interested in the field of science with a particular interest in Chemistry. The course provides an exemplary experience of laboratory practical work using specialist equipment and procedures. The course also delivers foundation knowledge in science in addition to giving students the employability skills and industry knowledge necessary to succeed when working in science. The course can also be used in preparation for a top-up to a full BSc.

Chemical and Pharmaceutical Science encompasses a wide range of laboratory procedures for preparation and analysis of chemical substances for human purposes. It includes research and development in the laboratory exploring, purifying and synthesizing high quality products from nature and other sources. Examples include the manufacture of drugs, materials and medicinal products or large scale synthesis in industry. It is a two-year programme requiring just two full days in college leading to the award of an FD.

The programme offers informed teaching in small groups by highly qualified and experienced teachers in addition to excellent support. The programme has been developed with direct input from local employers who also have a global presence and represents an excellent opportunity for those interested in working in science and to those who already work in the science industry who wish to develop their careers by gaining a fit for purpose qualification whilst still working or honouring other commitments. The course provides a strong foundation in biology and chemistry with specialisation in current areas of importance to a broad range of employers and research interests.
