Program content

Year 1

Core coursework covering the entire medical device product life cycle from identifying a need, through design and development, to production and manufacturing.


MSMDE students are encouraged to do an internship or summer research.

Year 2

  • Students will participate in teams on a year-long industry-sponsored project with support from a faculty advisor and liaison from the sponsoring company.
  • Additional courses in business and regulatory affairs provide industry insight.
  • Advanced elective courses allow students to specialize in an area of interest.
