The Master of Science in Medical Device Engineering program is a four-semester program with small-section, in-person classes; 60 units are required to complete the program. The curriculum integrates three key knowledge areas across core and elective courses, and provides authentic experiences with patients, providers, and industry.

Year 1
Core coursework covering the entire medical device product life cycle from identifying a need, through design and development, to production and manufacturing.
Summer
MSMDE students are encouraged to do an internship or summer research.
Year 2
- Students will participate in teams on a year-long industry-sponsored project with support from a faculty advisor and liaison from the sponsoring company.
- Additional courses in business and regulatory affairs provide industry insight.
- Advanced elective courses allow students to specialize in an area of interest.
