Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church in Hungary is a youthful institution with a long tradition. Established in its current form in 1993, the university has become one of the top universities of the country ever since. It is the 12th best university among 41 ranked by an acknowledged business magazine in 2019.

The university combines the traditions of Reformed Christian education and the openness to professional innovation promoted by our European and international exchange programmes.


Our 7,600+ students can acquire BA, MA degrees, or complete their PhD at our four faculties:
• Faculty of Law
• Faculty of Humanities
• Faculty of Theology
• Faculty of Teacher Training.

International students may select from a variety of English or German taught degree programmes offered by the faculties.

The City

With most of its buildings located in the heart of Budapest, the university offers a friendly cosmopolitan hub to students from all around the world and our welcoming staff can provide you advice and support on issues including the application process, studying and staying in Hungary. International students may stay at one of our dormitories which can be easily accessed by local public transport.


Combined with our Buddy Programme that involves volunteering fellow students, our International Team will ensure that you will be supported throughout your time at Károli. Besides, we place considerable emphasis on community-oriented education, the personal relationship between professors and students as well as on student initiatives.
