PhD in Social Work
The PhD programme in Social Work is an advanced education which grants students a systematic understanding of the field and develops their capacities of research, analysis and evaluation, training them for professional Social Work.
Information regarding COVID-19
Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the Portuguese government has temporarily closed all schools and universities from March 12th 2020.
In light of this, ISCTE - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa will be suspending face-to-face classes and offering all programs remotely instead. For more information about this, please contact the university.
Program content
The PhD programme in Social Work aims prepare Social Work professionals and specialists to:
- Systematically understand Social Work as a field of study supported by its associated techniques and methods of research;
- Conduct an original research programme of recognized scientific merit in the field of Social Work;
- Critically analyze, evaluate and synthesize new and complex ideas in Social Work;
- Promote technological, social and cultural advancement within society based on knowledge from academic and professional contexts;
- Have the skills to continue learning throughout life with a high degree of autonomy.
Tuition fees
Tuition fee 2020/2021 €2000.00 per year
