ISCTE-University Institute of Lisbon
Founded in 1972, the University Institute of Lisbon (ISCTE-IUL) is one of the most prestigious public universities in Portugal, particularly focused on postgraduate studies and scientific research. It is organized in four schools: ISCTE Business School, School of Sociology and Public Policy, School of Technology and Architecture and School of Social Sciences and Humanities. ISCTE-IUL is committed to internationalization as a crucial component of its development. It is actively engaged in collaborative projects, networks and partnerships around the world and participates in a significant range of European Union-supported education, training and research programs. ISCTE-IUL welcomes near 20% of students from around 80 different nationalities, which gives everyone a vibrant environment on a dynamic and multicultural university campus. With approximately 9000 students enrolled in undergraduate (46%) and postgraduate (54%) programs, 450 teachers and 220 non-teaching staff, ISCTE-IUL is proud to be one of the most dynamic and innovative universities in the country. Facing high demand, the student vacancies at the ISCTE-IUL have always been fully occupied.
Information regarding COVID-19
Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the Portuguese government has temporarily closed all schools and universities from March 12th 2020.
In light of this, ISCTE - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa will be suspending face-to-face classes and offering all programs remotely instead. For more information about this, please contact the university.
Located in the Monastery of Santos-o-Novo (17th century) – which is classified as National Monument – on a small hill by the river Tagus, in Lisbon’s east end, the residence benefits from a privileged view and is a short distance from the central railway station of Santa Apolónia, the typical neighbourhood of Alfama, downtown Lisbon, Terreiro do Paço, and also close to the new residential, commercial and service area of the Parque das Nações.
The Residence operates during the 12 months of the year, and during the accommodation the resident has the right to weekly cleaning in which the bed and bath linen provided will be changed. Students may leave and enter the Residence at any time.
The Residence has a Laundry, Lounge area with TV, Games Room, Kitchen, Dining room, study room and Intern
