HMKW is a private, state-approved university of applied sciences with three locations across Germany: Berlin, Cologne, Frankfurt/Main.
- State-approved by the Berliner Senatsverwaltung (Federal Senate Administration of Berlin)
- Institutionally accredited by the German Wissenschaftsrat (Federal Science Council)
- All study programs are accredited by the international accreditation agency FIBAA.
HMKW was founded in Berlin, where its first Bachelor programs started in October 2009. HMKW’s Cologne Campus (Köln) opened in the media hub of the Rhineland in October 2011. In October 2016, another HMKW campus opened in Frankfurt, Germany’s financial powerhouse and home of the second-largest airport in Europe. HMKW prides itself on being one of the most open and successful private universities in Germany.
All B.A.courses include media, communication as well as business-oriented subjects. HMKW awards Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degrees in four at all of its locations and a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) is being planned. The standard period of undergraduate studies is three years (six semesters). A unique feature of their educational portfolio is the option to study all B.A.programs in a so-called "dual" mode, combining academic studies with vocational training. HMKW’s double qualification programs are unrivaled among German universities in the field of media/communication studies. In these programs, you can acquire a professional qualification along with an academic degree.
Since 2014, HMKW additionally offers Master programs:
- M.A. Communication Design and Creative Strategies
- M.A. Digital Journalism
- M.Sc. Business Psychology
- M.A. International Marketing and Media Management
- M.A. Public Relations and Digital Marketing
All master programs are taught in English (Berlin and Frankfurt/Main) or German (Cologne) and can be studied on a full-time or part-time basis.
