Hector Fellow Academy PhD program – Carry out your own research project!
Join the interdisciplinary network of top-level scientists and carry out your own PhD project within a scientific discipline at Hector Fellows. Outstanding young scientists from all over the world are invited to apply for these prestigious PhD positions.
PhD students of the Hector Fellow Academy (HFA) get the opportunity to realize a self-developed research project under supervision of one of the Hector Fellows. PhD candidates will benefit from the expertise and research network of their renowned mentor.
HFA PhD students are employed as full-time research assistants at the university of the supervising Hector Fellow for a period of up to three years.
The PhD salary is determined by the institute’s guidelines (according to the general pay scale of German universities approx. 47,000 EUR gross income per year). In addition, Hector Fellow PhD students receive grants for research expenses (15,000 EUR per year) and are given the opportunity to gain interdisciplinary expertise and relevant soft skills by participating in selected training activities.
- Preparation of an innovate, self-developed research proposal for a relevant scientific issue in one of the Hector Fellows’ research fields
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) with excellent performance
- Very good English skills
- Readiness to move to the location of the Hector Fellow’s university
- In addition, the master thesis may not have been supervised by the selected Hector Fellow.
*Application period open from January 1st until April 30th, 2018. During that time, applications including a proposal of the planned PhD project and the indication of the corresponding Hector Fellow may be submitted via the HFA application portal.
