Bachelor in Cultural Coordination

Students in the “Cultural Coordination” Bachelor’s benefit from a programme aiming at enabling them to understand and know the diverse nature of artistic forms, as well as the practices and activities of the sector, and master the main activities, enhancing relations with the audience (communication, cultural coordination, dissemination).

Courses related to the understanding of the different artistic sectors and their practices account for 30% of the programme. Understanding the professional world and its customs accounts for 70% of the programme.

After completing the programme, students will acquire the following competences :

  • Understanding of contemporaryartistic and cultural practices
  • General historyof arts and culture
  • General knowledge ofthe professional worldin the sector
  • Knowledge ofthe customs and practices enhancing dissemination and distribution of arts and artistsamong all audiences

In the fourth semester (Year 2), choosing two options in one of the main domains of the sector will enable students to acquire in-depth knowledge of artistic and cultural projects and of professional practices in order to coordinate them : music, performing arts, cultural heritage & museums, cinema and medias.

The academic programme is conceived as to alternate: classes and professional experiences during the three years, with namely, a 7-month compulsory internship (full-time or 14 months part-time) over the 3 years.

The objective of professionalisation is achieved in year 3 with the realisation of a professional project (alternating individual work and group work).

Practice of English will enable students to acquire a level enabling them to meet ordinary communication needs (TOEIC®), integrated with field-specific vocabulary.

Admission requirements

Diploma

  • Year 1 :Holding a high-school diploma equivalent to the French Baccalaureate
  • Year 2 :Having successfully completed at least 1 year of university education
  • Year 3 :Having successfully completed at least 2 years of university education

Langue (English) :

  • None, students will sit a test upon entering the training programme that will evaluate their level and help improvement.

Continuing studies

Cultural Coordinators facilitate access to artistic projects and works for the audience, their role corresponds to the positions of assistant for: communication (i.e. community manager), public reception and interactions with the audience (cultural actions), dissemination of works and artistic productions within professional networks (production assistant, agent).

Skills

Cultural coordinators conceive, implement and disseminate communication tools : posters, brochures, press kits, artists’ biographies, presentation of a show, exhibition contents, catalogues, etc. They develop and implement questionnaires and, public surveys to be analysed with a view to issuing recommendations. They understand the artistic and cultural content of their area of work. They are able to outline different relations between audiences and culture, in order to ensure coordination, animation or cultural actions.

Profile

Cultural Coordinators love interacting and are able to communicate. They are sensitive to culture and to its different expressions : fine arts, literature, theatre arts, music, audio-visuals, cultural heritage, etc. They understand how the different sectors are professionally organised and enjoy participating in artistic events. Armed with these skills, they act as vital links for the dissemination of arts and culture.
