D.Psych Counselling Psychology allows a curriculum of modules that are relevant to psychology graduates looking to enhance their competencies in Counselling Psychology or to qualify as Chartered Counselling Psychologists.
The D.Psych qualification is available only to those eligible for full membership of the British psychological Society Division of Counselling Psychology. It orientates around the structure of the D.Psych in Counselling Psychology but allows significant recognition of prior learning.
the programme utilises the combined expertise of the Counselling Unit at the University of Strathclyde and the Division of Psychology at Glasgow Caledonian University. D.Psych Counselling Psychology is unique in providing a core training in the Person-Centred/Experiential approach. This is supplemented by a further focus on Cognitive Behavioural Theory and Practice and provides an excellent backdrop for students wishing to work with international experts in the field.
Students wishing to study the D.Psych Counselling Psychology programme should meet the following requirements:
- A good first degree in Psychology, granting them Graduate Basis for Chartership (GBC) with the British Psychology Society. They must also demonstrate experience in a caring role and personal maturity.
- English Proficiency - IELTS test with a score of at least 7.0 or by holding another recognised qualification.
